Winter Concert

At the Winter Concert, band and chorus put on a wonderful show. The first half was band. They played about 4-5 songs. They sounded great. They also have been practicing for a long time. When they first started they didn’t know how to play even one single note or how to even put the instrument together. The chorus, known as the Trebblemakers, was also amazing. They sang the second half after the band played. Some of the singers were brave and came up in front of the microphone and sang a solo. They were brave because they are not just singing in front of nobody, they are singing in front of the whole school, even our Principal. The Winter Concert was in the morning and every one was tired because they didn’t want to be at school. When everyone started to sing and play their instruments, everyone felt much better. After the concert ended we all wanted to stay and listen to songs even longer.

                     Iatlian Night

January 16 is Italian night. Italian night is a night where you do not have to cook. Instead of eating dinner at home, you can come to Johnny Appleseed and have spaghetti and meatballs. Students offer to be your waiter. Italian night is awesome. Everybody who goes in there is happy, and everyone comes out like they want to go every night because it was so delicious. It is also a chance to get to know the staff and the kids in the school better. The pasta that they have is so good that everyone could have 100 boxes of it. The person who cooks it, does a really good job. Of course the servers do a good job too. You could choose plain pasta, pasta and meatballs, pasta and sauce, and pasta sauce and meatballs. There are so many options. Our PTO makes money to help bring events to our school and send us on field trips. It's a great night for Johnny Appleseed students.

      2020  

In writing we are working on our 2020 flip books.
Each page has something about 2020 or memories
from 2019. For example one page might be pink
that says “pick 2 memories from 2019.” or “What
are some accomplishments?” After you color the
front page, you cut them all out, and staple them
together. When you are done, it will be something
you can flip open and read. It will also be something
you can keep and remember all the fun times you
had in 2019. Some people in our class are almost
done the flip book and some people are not even
close to being done, but we are having a fun time
making it. Even better when we are done, we can
look back at all of are memories.

              Science Class

In Mrs. Demers science class we are doing a lot of fun science labs. The labs are based on chemical changes. For our last class we got a balloon full of 2 scoops of baking soda. Then we filled up a plastic water bottle with 18 scoops of vinegar. When we were ready we put the balloon on the bottle. Then we dumped the baking soda in the vinegar. After that the vinegar got all bubley and the balloon started to blow up. The balloon got really big, we thought it was going to pop but it didn’t. At the end the vinegar wasn’t bubbly anymore. But at the bottom of the bottle was some weird white paste. The paste was called “sodium acetate” and is evidence of a chemical change. The gas bubbles are evidence of a chemical change too. We do a lot of fun science labs in Mrs.Demers class. This was only one of them. 

Ice Cube Project

Hello, my name is Keira Traverse. You may have read my first story, Chemistry In Science, I talked about my class’ science class, but today I will be talking about our project. In science class we were making projects. The project was supposed to make a prototype that will keep an ice cube cold for the day. We were given a sheet to fill out that would help us find what we need and what to do. We had to look for materials with low thermal conductivity. That means it will not transfer heat well. The items needed to be good insulators. The most common materials used were Aluminum foil, Styrofoam, and insulation. These items are some of the best things to use. This project was like a contest because, there would be a first, second, and third place winner. We were given the morning to make these projects and in the afternoon we would open them and see who had the biggest ice cube. The team with the biggest ice cube would win. My team used a shoe box, aluminum foil, and styrofoam. At science class we opened them to see if we had an ice cube. We had an ice cube but it was really small. There were people who had ice cubes, but most of them were not that big. There were a few people who had big ice cubes so theirs were weighed to see who won. In third place was Halo and Lucy. The second place winner was Bailey and Jasleen. And the winners for first place were Alannah, Deanna and Isabella. They were the people with the biggest ice cubes.    Book Fair           By: Lucy, Sierra, and HaloEvery year Mrs Bradford works with the PTO to host a book fair.
Every year the kids have more and more fun.Things you can buy: You can buy a series of books like Guts,
Ghosts, Smile, and Sisters. Instead of books you can also buy bookmarks, posters, erasers, black light pens,
regular pens, and pencils. Book sections: Some of the sections of books are graphic novels, fantasy, fiction,
and non-fiction. There are also some fairy tale stories. After you buy your book: After you buy your books you
go up to the table with all of the people that work there and you pay for the books or other things like bookmarks,
you bought. After you pay usually Mrs. Bradford puts on a movie in the mac lab. She set up chairs in front of
the screen. For example the movie that was playing this year was “Wreck it Ralph 2.”
